enjoying what you do. Oftentimes, people think that their passion is outside of their work and their preferred hobbies.

But what if you could live your passion in the career you have right now? I’m telling you from personal experience and what I’ve witnessed my clients experience firsthand – you can do exactly that! Start now.
Three tips or tools to help you in discovering your passion at work

Tip 1: Think of those things that you enjoy doing.

Think of those things that truly get you excited. They are important in passion discovery. You’re going to have to differentiate things that you enjoy doing as hobbies versus what you want to do for your profession.

For example: I love watching cooking competitions. But do I want to be a judge for one? That would be a no, thank you, because that would mean I’d have to taste food I don’t like. Another example: if you enjoy playing sports, do you want to do that for a living? Most times, the answer is going to be no. Those are the hobbies you enjoy doing outside of work but to monetize it often takes the fun out of it for a lot of people, perhaps you included. You have to decide if it’s something you can look forward to doing every day with joy, vigor and curiosity even.

Tip 2: Think of those things that you enjoy doing at work.

Try creating a Love-Hate List. List the things you love doing at work and enjoy. Then list the things you dislike. This will help you differentiate what you enjoy doing at work versus what you don’t particularly care for (or even loathe, let’s be honest).

What if you enjoyed these things but didn’t feel passionate about it? What’s the next step? What’s the answer? Ask other people. The reality is that passion is contagious. There are a lot of things other people could be passionate about. Their passion will be contagious to you, and you will love your work even more.

Tip 3: Take some quiet time.

Take time to think of things that bring you pleasure. Make a list. You’ll start feeling that passion not as a word but in your heart, too.
